Lincolnshire Echo Review | Wicked Monsters Blast

The Lincolnshire Echo recently reviewed Wicked Monsters Blast – read the full coverage below:
Wicked Monsters Blast. Wii (reviewed). Publisher: PQube.
There are plenty of shooting gallery games out there but most of them involve the player wading knee deep in gore while blasting chunks out of zombies, strafing gas-masked commandos or blowing holes in killer robots.
Wicked Monsters Blast functions as a sort of child-friendly House of the Dead or Time Crisis but ditches the ultra-violence in favour of super cute characters and offbeat mini-games.
Up to four players can join in the action which initially sees you following the story of one particular character – and you have a choice of several – through a series of shooting challenges.
Among these you’ll find yourself solving simple puzzles like shooting targets in the right order, zapping cartoonish bad guy gunslingers and even popping morsels into the mouth of a hungry whale.
The action is fast and furious and scoring enough points to proceed can be tricky at times but it’s a cheerful family blast reminiscent of 90s PlayStation, and later DS, shooter Point Blank.
It’s a game for kids and on that basis it succeeds.
